Yaiza
was captured in 1995 in Cuba and arrived directly at Acuario de La Habana after
her capture. She lived there until she was moved to Aqualand in 1996. When she
had lived at Aqualand for about one year Yaiza gave birth to her first calf
that was a female and was named Yemaya. The calf was the first dolphin born at
Aqualand. In September 2005 Yaiza gave birth to her second calf that was a male
and was named Cris and in November 2008 she gave birth to her third calf that
also was a male and was named Orion. Several of Yaiza’s calves are still living at
Aqualand today and Yemaya has given birth to two calves herself of whom Aitami lives at Aqualand today. Yaiza is participating in Aqualand’s dolphin therapy.
