Akai was captured on April 22nd 1978 and arrived at Sea-Arama the same year. He lived there until January 23rd 1990 when he was moved to National Aquarium. About two years later Akai’s first daughter named Chesapeake was born and two years after that, on June 1st 1994, Akai was moved to Seaworld Ohio. Akai lived at Seaworld Ohio for about three years until he was moved to Seaworld Orlando on October 11th 1997. Later Akai was moved to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and then back to Seaworld Orlando again before he was moved to his current home Discovery Cove in 2005.
