Dixie was captured on October 19th 1975 and arrived at New England Aquarium the same year. She lived there until March 25th 1988 when she was moved to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. After living for about ten years at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Dixie was moved to Seaworld Orlando on April 21st 1998. From Seaworld Orlando Dixie was moved in 2000 to Discovery Cove where she four years later, in May 2004, gave birth to her first calf. The calf was a male and was named Dexter. In July 2009 Dixie gave birth to her second calf but unfortunately this calf was stillborn.
