Anke was captured on January 18th 1985 and is presumed to be born in 1983. On July 16th 1987 Anke arrived at Allwetterzoo together with Nynke and they lived there until December 28th 1990 when they were moved to Tiergarten Stadt Nürnberg. At Tiergarten Stadt Nürnberg they lived until they were moved to Dolfinarium Harderwijk on September 28th 2008. Today Anke and Nynke live together with several other dolphins in Dolfinarium Harderwijk’s centre Dolfijnendelta.
On March 18th 2010 Anke gave birth to a calf. The calf was born with its head first (unlike most dolphins that are born with their tails first) and unfortunately the calf passed away soon after the birth since it never came up to the water surface to take its first breath.
