Smarty
was born in 1963 but his capture date is unknown. In 1993 he arrived at
Dolfinarium Harderwijk from Winsdor Safaripark together with his daughter Thea
and several other dolphins. In May 2005 Thea gave birth to her first calf which
made Smarty a grandfather. The calf, that was named Spetter, is a male and
still lives at Dolfinarium Harderwijk while Thea was moved to Planete’ Sauvage
in 2008.
Today,
Smarty lives in the centre Dolfijnendelta where his grandson Spetter also
lives. Smarty is one of the dolphins that is easiest to recognize of the
dolphins at Dolfinarium Harderwijk. He is dark and is a little white on his
nose but his most clear mark is the white mark that he has by his left eye.
