Beethoven was born on August 8th 1992 at Seaworld San Antonio and is the son of Bandit and Ike. On April 20th 1997 Beethoven was moved to Seaworld San Diego where he lived for about one year before he was moved to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium on November 21st 1998. In 2009 Beethoven and Qannik were the only two belugas at Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium and when Qannik died in March 2009 it was decided that Beethoven was going to be moved back to Seaworld San Antonio. On June 1st 2009 Beethoven was therefore moved back to Seaworld San Antonio which he left when he was only five years old.
In October 2009 three new belugas arrived at Seaworld San Antonio from Georgia Aquarium; Maris, Nico and Natasha. The three belugas were going to stay at Seaworld San Antonio for a couple of months while Georgia Aquarium was being re-built but unfotrunately Nico passed away in October 2009 and in February 2010, when Georgia Aquarium's belugas were going to be moved back to Georgia, Natasha stayed at Seaworld San Antonio while Maris was moved back to Georgia together with Beethoven. So since February 22nd 2010 Beethoven now lives at Georgia Aquarium with the 16-year-old female beluga Maris. Beethoven weighs 789 kilograms and measures 3,96 meters (weight and length 2010).
