Maris was born on July 28th 1994 and is the daughter of Natasha and Winston. Before she arrived at Georgia Aquarium on November 7th 2005, with her mother Natasha and another female beluga called Marina, Maris had lived at both New York Aquarium and Mystic Marine Life Aquarium. On October 4th 2009 all of Georgia Aquarium's belugas, Maris, Natasha and Nico, were moved to Seaworld San Antonio where they were going to live for a couple of months while Georgia Aquarium was being re-built. Unfortunately Nico passed away in the end of October 2009 and Natasha never moved back to Georgia Aquarium but stayed at Seaworld San Antonio. Maris, on the other hand, was moved back to Georgia Aquarium on February 22nd 2010 with the male beluga Beethoven. So today Maris lives at Georgia Aquarium with Beethoven. Maris measures 3,35 meters and weighs 408 kilograms (weight and length 2010).
