Stella
was captured in October 1987 in Iceland and arrived at Kamogawa Seaworld on
March 29th 1988 together with three other orcas named Maggie, Oscar
and Bubba. When Stella had lived at Kamogawa Seaworld for about 10 years, on
January 11th 1998, she gave birth to her first calf. The calf was a
female and was named Lovey. Just 3 years later she gave birth to her second
calf that also was a female. This calf was named Lara. In May 2003 Stella gave
birth to another daughter and this calf was named Sarah. Less than three years
later Stella actually gave birth to a fourth daughter named Ran II and in April
2006 Sarah unfortunately passed away after being ill for almost a year.
Today
Stella lives at Kamogawa Seaworld together with Lovey, Lara and Ran II and her
grandson Earth (born in 2008) and the males Bingo and Oscar. Stella measures
5.2 meters and weighs 2000 kilograms.
