Fenix was born in 2001 at Kolmården Zoo. His mother Lotty had already had two calves, Lotus and Lyra. When Fenix was little the female Sharky did not had a calf so she took Fenix from Lotty and as Lotty was lower in the dolphins’ hierarchy than Sharky she could not do so much. Later Lotty got Fenix back.
Fenix’s brother Lotus was moved to Zoomarine in 2003 together with the male Dino, while Lyra still lives at Kolmården Zoo. Fenix’s father, Flip, passed away the same year (2003) as Lotus was moved. When Fenix was nearly 3 and a half year old he was moved to Marineland Antibes together with his mother Lotty and the female Sharky.
Fenix had a scar on one side of his nose that made him easy to recognize. He lived in Marineland Antibes’ Lagoon together with the dolphins Alizé and Kaly but unfortunately Fenix passed away on October 10th 2009.
