Sanibel was captured on September 19th 1986 and arrived at Loro Parque in 1987. She has previously lived at Dolphin Research Center. In 1991 Sanibel gave birth to her first calf but unfortunately the calf did not survive. Four years later, in 1995, she gave birth to her second calf who unfortunately did not survive either. In September 1996, though, Sanibel's daughter Luna was born and, like Sanibel, Luna still lives at Loro Parque today.
