Guarina was captured in 1984 in Cuba and arrived at Madrid Zoo in 1989. In January 2002 Guarina gave birth to a son named Steve. About three years later, in 2005, she gave birth to a daughter named Naia.
Guarina
is the dominant female in Madrid Zoo’s dolphin group. She gave birth to her third calf in November 2009 and the calf is a female named Iruka.
