Allie was born on April 1^st 1987. She is the daughter of April and her father was Merlin. In June 1991 Allie arrived at Brookfield Zoo, that actually owns Allie, and later she was moved to Dolphin Connection. At Dolphin Connection Allie gave birth to her first calf, Balla, in 2003. Today Balla still lives at Dolphin Connection. On January 14^th 2008 Allie and her mother April were moved to Minnesota Zoo and a few months later Allie became pregnant. Minnesota Zoo had not had dolphin calves for several years and hoped that Allie’s calf, that was presumed to be born in February/March 2009, would make it. In the morning of March 26^th 2009 Allie’s calf was finally born but unfortunately the little female was stillborn. Minnesota Zoo thinks that the calf died during the birth as examinations a few days earlier showed that the calf was alive. Unfortunately it is common that dolphins in both captivity and in the wild give birth to stillborn calves but it is unknown why.

On Friday July 16th 2010 Allie refused to eat and on Saturday July 17th she gave birth to a calf. Minnesota Zoo's staff says the calf is probably a female but they are not sure. Today Allie lives at Minnesota Zoo with her new calf, mother April and the male Semo (who is the father of Allie's new calf and the stillborn one born in 2009). Allie weighs 181 kilograms and measures 2,4 meters.
