Relatives: mother Bailey, grandmother Notchfin and grandfather Guy

Beetle was born on August 11^th 2003 at Seaworld Orlando and his mother Bailey had not given birth to any surviving calves before. Like all dolphin calves that are born at Seaworld Orlando Beetle was born in the centre Dolphin Nursery. Just nine days after Beetle’s birth another calf was born at Seaworld Orlando: Cosmo. Beetle and Cosmo became close friends and in 2005 they were moved together with their mothers to the dolphin centre Dolphin Cove. When Cosmo’s mother passed away the following year (2006) Beetle’s mother took care of Cosmo and the same year Beetle bit one of the park’s visitors in the hand. Why he did it or if he even meant to bite the visitor is unknown but Beetle and Cosmo were moved to Animal Care to prevent it to happen again. In the beginning of 2008 they were moved back to Dolphin Cove but soon they were back in Animal Care again. Later they were moved to Dolphin Nursery where they lived until they where moved to Mirage Dolphin Habitat in March 2010. Today Beetle and Cosmo live at Mirage Dolphin Habitat with several other dolphins.
