Amaya
arrived to Parc Asterix on June 18th 1988 and gave birth to her
first calf in 1993. The calf was a female and was named Athena. Three years
later Amaya gave birth to her second calf who also was a female. This calf was
named Aya and in 1999 Amaya gave birth to Peos. In 2002 Amaya’s oldest daughter
Athena gave birth to her first calf who was named Thais and the following year
Aya gave birth to her first calf who was named Liya. Today Thais is
unfortunately deceased while Liya lives at Dolfinarium Harderwijk in the
Netherlands. Athena gave birth to another calf in 2004, Mininos, but Aya has
not given birth to any more calves yet. In October the same year as Mininos was
born Amaya unfortunately passed away and two years later both Thais and Athena
passed away too. The rest of Amaya’s relatives: Aya, Peos, Liya and Mininos are
currently living at different dolphinariums in Europe.
During
her time at Parc Asterix Amaya was the dominant female.
