Aya was
born on July 4th 1996 at Parc Asterix. Her mother was Amaya (deceased)
and her father is Pichi (who lives at Kolmården Zoo). Aya has a older sister
named Athena (deceased) and when Aya was 3 years old she got a little brother
named Peos. Aya has several halfsiblings too and most of them were born at Parc
Asterix but two of them (Fenah and Sting) were born at Kolmården Zoo where
Aya’s father Pichi was moved in October 2005. About one year before Pichi was
moved Aya’s mother Amaya passed away and about one year before that Aya gave
birth to her first calf, Liya. Today Liya lives at Dolfinarium Harderwijk.
In the
fall of 2007 Aya and the rest of Parc Asterix’s dolphins were moved to
Dolfinarium Harderwijk because Parc Asterix’s dolphinarium was going to be
re-built. Aya and the rest of the dolphins lived at Dolfinarium Harderwijk the
whole winter and were moved back to Parc Asterix in spring 2008. In August 2010 Aya gave birth to her second calf. The calf is a male and has been named Aïcko.
