Veera was
born in 1978 and was captured on August 24th 1984. On March 31st
1985 she arrived to Särkänniemi and 5 years later she gave birth to her first
calf. Unfortunately the calf did not survive and Veera become pregnant again.
In 1991 she gave birth to her second calf but the calf did not survive and five
years later, in 1996, she gave birth to her third calf, Eevertti. Eevertti
still lives at Särkänniemi. Veera gave birth to a calf in 2007 too, but the
calf did not survive. In November 2008 Veera gave birth to a stillborn calf.
Veera is
the oldest dolphin at Särkänniemi and she is also the leader of the dolphin
group. She weighs 198 kilograms and measures 2,63 meters.
