Seaworld
Orlando has 43 bottlenose dolphins, 8 orcas, 3 belugas and 1 false killer
whale. There are also several other animals in the park as for example seals
and polar bears. Seaworld Orlando’s 41 bottlenose dolphins are divided on four
centres depending on, for example, their health and if they have small calves.
Here you can read about these four centres and also the centres where the orcas
and belugas live.
Dolphin
Cove is the centre that contains most bottlenose dolphins. Here 18 bottlenose
dolphins of different ages and of the both genders live.
Dolphin
Nursery is the centre where Seaworld Orlando’s all dolphin calves are born.
When one of the park’s females is pregnant she is moved to Dolphin Nursery and
lives there until her calf is about 1-2 years old when she and the calf are
moved to Dolphin Cove.
Whale
and Dolphin Theatre is the centre where Seaworld Orlando’s dolphin shows are
hold. Here live 9 male bottlenose dolphins and one female false killer whale.
These 10 animals all participate in the dolphin show.
Animal
Care is a centre where dolphins can be moved to if they have health problems or
if they for some reason cannot live in any of the other dolphin centres at
Seaworld Orlando. Animal Care consists of two pools. In one of these pools 3
bottlenose dolphins are living currently and in the other one there are
currently 2 bottlenose dolphins living.
Shamu
Stadium is Seaworld Orlando’s orca centre. The centre consists of several pools
and in one of these the orca shows are hold. Seaworld Orlando’s 8 orcas live
here.
Wild
Arctic is the centre where Seaworld Orlando’s three belugas live. In this centre
there are also other animals like, for example, polar bears (of course they do
not live together with the belugas).
