Tilikum
was captured in November 1983 in Iceland and about one year later he arrived at
Sealand of the Pacific in Canada. He lived there until he was moved to Seaworld
Orlando on January 9th 1992. During his years at Seaworld Orlando
Tilikum has become the father of more than 10 orca calves but Malia is the only
one that is currently living at the park today. Tilikum measures 6.8 meters and
weighs 5398 kilograms (weight and length 2005) which makes him the biggest orca
in captivity. His name means “welcome” or “friend”.
