Ferdinand
was captured on July 31st 1975 and arrived at Zoo Duisburg the same
year where he for several years lived together with several other belugas and
several Commerson dolphins. Unfortunately all of the belugas and Commerson
dolphins passed away except for Ferdinand and the Commerson dolphin Jogy and
when the two were the only left it was decided that they were going to be sent
to Seaworld San Diego where they could live together with animals of their own
species. On September 12th 2004 Ferdinand and Jogy were therefore
moved to Seaworld San Diego where Ferdinand was introduced to other belugas and
Jogy to other Commerson dolphins. Today Jogy is unfortunately deceased.
Ferdinand
is currently living in the centre Wild Arctic together with three other belugs
named Ruby, Allua and Nanuq.
