Nanuq
was captured on August 15th 1990 and arrived at Vancouver Aquarium
the same year. In July 1995 his first daughter named Qila was born. On July 27th
1997 Nanuq was moved to Seaworld San Diego where he lived for eight years until
he was moved to Seaworld San Antonio on February 12th 2005. At
Seaworld San Antonio Nanuq became the father of two male belugas in 2007 and on
January 27th 2008 Nanuq was moved back to Seaworld San Diego. The
following year, in June 2009, Nanuq’s second daughter was born at Seaworld San
Antonio but the calf is still unnamed.
Today
Nanuq lives in Seaworld San Diego’s centre Wild Arctic together with the park’s
three other belugas named Ruby, Ferdinand and Allua.
