Relatives: Ruby gave birth to a calf in May 2008 but unfortunately the calf did not survive
Ruby was
captured on July 15th 1980 and arrived at US. Navy the same year
where she lived for 17 years until she was moved to Seaworld San Diego on April
18th 1997. After a little more than eleven years at Seaworld San
Diego, on May 27th 2008, Ruby gave birth to her first calf. Ruby did
not take care of her calf and the park’s beluga trainers had to take care of it
instead but unfortauntely the calf passed away in June 2008. Today Ruby lives
in the centre Wild Arctic together with the other belugas Ferdinand, Nanuq and
Allua.
