Nala was born on June 7th 2009 at Vancouver Aquarium and is the
daughter of Aurora and Imaq. During the birth Aurora was alone in the pool
while Qila and Tiqa were in the pool beside. The day after the birth Aurora and
her calf were introduced to Qila and Tiqa and Tiqa was very curious about her little
halfsister. In December 2009, after a naming contest, the calf was named Nala. In mid-June 2010 Nala's appetite diminished and therefore blood samples were taken from Nala. The blood samples showed that Nala had an infection and she was treated by a veterinarian. Nala recovered but on June 21st she became worse and unfortunately she passed away later the same day.
