Kavna was captured in 1976 and arrived at Vancouver Aquarium on July 26th the same year. Kavna was pregnant when she was captured and on July 13th 1977 she gave birth to a male calf named Tuaq. Unforunately Tuaq is dead today. In 2008 Kavna and Imaq wre moved from the other belugas to another centre at Vancouver Aquarium since one of the other belugas, Qila, was going to give birth to her first calf. The calf was born on June 10th 2008 and was later named Tiqa. When Tiqa was nearly 1 year old, on June 7th 2009, Aurora gave birth to a calf too. Unfortunately Aurora's calf passed away about one year later, on June 21st 2010.
Today
Kavna and Imaq still live in another centre but probably they will be moved
back to the other belugas when Tiqa gets a little older. Kavna measures
3,8 meters and weighs 850 kilograms (weight and length 2009). Each day she eats
12,5 kilograms of fish (according to information from 2005).
